Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1813. The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London.

Though the story is set at the turn of the 19th century, it retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of "most loved books" such as The Big Read. It has become one of the most popular novels in English literature and receives considerable attention from literary scholars. Modern interest in the book has resulted in a number of dramatic adaptations and an abundance of novels and stories imitating Austen's memorable characters or themes. To date, the book has sold some 20 million copies worldwide.

От себя добавлю. Курс безусловно хорош. Возможно, для практикующих юристов он менее интересен, т.к. предполагает скорее академические знания. Иногда тексты слишком широкого, общего характера, немного оторваны от реальности. Но в целом, курс предлагает много текстов, упражнения на слушание, говорение, немного грамматику, письмо. Я бы назвала эту книгу полноценным учебником. Если перед вами студент-юрист - это прекрасный курс. Его только нужно расширить грамматикой. И, возможно, разговорными оборотами из общего или бизнес английского.
Также есть книга для учителя, что радует и облегчает работу.

В принципе, неплохо. Есть лучше. Но эту книгу можно рассматривать как энциклопедию. Автор попытался охватить все аспекты. Потому узкому специалисту попадется много лишнего. Кто готов это выдержать - те с удовольствием полистают. Упражнения практически бесполезны. Но текста содержать основную профессиональную лексику. Их почитать будет полезно. Скорее подходит для самостоятельно работы. чем для работы в классе.

Что я могу сказать? Мне нравится этот курс. Его основа: Intermediate (B1-B2) - самая сильная и полезная книга.  Охватывает разные аспекты: звуки, ударение, ритм. Я тоже отрабатывала произношение по этим материалам. И если действительно задаться целью, то результат будет! С учениками я не вдаюсь в детали теории, а концентрирую внимание на аудио упражнениях. Их вполне достаточно.

Уровень Advanced предлагает нам познакомиться уже с более серьезными вещами: акценты, скорость, заглатывание звуков. Этот курс подходит уже самым любопытным. Кто действительно много внимания уделяет произношению.

Моя рецензия

Книга неплоха для своего сектора. Из всего, что я видела - это самый достойный вариант. Рассчитана на серьезный уровень языка. Так что подойдет ученикам от Intermediate и выше. Основной упор на профессиональную лексику. Радует аудио. Тексты бывают сложноваты, что тоже радует. Немного касается грамматики и речевых оборотов. Есть задания для ролевых игр.

В целом, заниматься только по этой книге будет скучно и однобоко. Но она является прекрасным дополнением к основной программе.
